Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz made Solheim Cup history with their dominant win over Charley Hull and Lottie Woad in Friday’s opening foursomes match at Bernardus Golf. The American pair won 4&3, giving them their fifth consecutive Solheim Cup victory as a partnership. However, their winning streak came to an end in Saturday’s foursomes against the least expected duo.

The World No. 1 and Allisen Corpuz lost their Day 2 morning foursomes match 3&2 to Europe’s Maja Stark and Linn Grant. It was the first loss of a remarkable run that had carried them to a perfect 5-0 record together in foursomes across the 2023, 2024, and 2026 editions, the first partnership in Solheim Cup history to win five straight matches as a pair. They had been chasing a mark to rival Arnold Palmer and Gardner Dickinson’s 5-0-0 record together in the Ryder Cup, set across the 1967 and 1971 editions, but Saturday’s loss put that out of reach.

“Just played really well. I think they were, like, 6- or 5-under through eight holes. So it’s tough,” Korda said of Saturday’s loss. “I mean, alternate shots are hard enough, but when you’re playing against a group of girls that are playing really, really well, it’s even harder.”

Stark and Grant, who dominated Friday’s foursomes, carried that momentum into Saturday, never recording a bogey across their two matches this week. The Swedish duo took a 1-up lead on the first hole and matched birdie for birdie on the next hole. They never lost control after the fourth hole and made the turn with a 4-up lead. Meanwhile, Nelly Korda and Corpuz played decently, but a few mistakes cost them.

The fatal blow came at 16, where Corpuz found water. Korda also had to take a drop on the 16th and didn’t look at her best form. Stark dropped the 8-foot birdie to clinch the match and end Korda and Corpuz’s flawless record.

“It felt like we put up some really decent golf both today and yesterday—it’s hard to beat when you’re not making any bogeys,” said Stark after the match.

The 3&2 defeat at the hands of Grant and Stark puts Nelly Korda’s overall Solheim record at 11-6-2. At this year’s Solheim Cup, Korda has garnered 1½ points from three matches. She will also play only four matches, as she did not feature in the announced Saturday afternoon four-ball session.

In fact, after defeating Charley Hull and Lottie Woad in the Friday morning foursomes, Korda didn’t win a hole. Korda, paired with Lauren Coughlin, halved her four-ball match against Carlota Ciganda and Julia Lopez Ramirez on Friday. Less than 24 hours later, she had to accept defeat at the hands of a pair who outclassed her.

Korda and Corpuz were both rested by U.S. Captain Angela Stanford, as Europe held a narrow 7-5 lead after Friday’s 4-4 deadlock. This will be the fifth time Korda has missed at least one four-ball session, and Stanford said she never intended to let the World No. 1 play all five sessions.

Nelly Korda was seen hitting balls on the range after the match. She will play against Solheim Cup rookie Mimi Rhodes on Sunday.
