Lee Westwood, at the age of 52, is set to demonstrate that ambition has nothing to do with age. As the LIV Golf offseason is close, the English veteran has a new kind of challenge in mind, participating in the HYROX test of strength and conditioning with his wife and caddie, Helen Story. As shared by Majesticks GC team on X, the event is a brutal juxtaposition of strength and endurance.

The HYROX format has taken the world by frenzy as a fitness test that brings functional workouts and endurance challenges to the table together. Every athlete has to undergo eight 1km runs clubbed together with eight challenging workout stations. From a 1000m SkiErg to sled pushes and pulls, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carries, sandbag lunges, and lastly, 100 wall balls.
The whole idea is meant to challenge conditioning and endurance with mental strength and camaraderie values that have been defining features of Westwood’s career for years.

His relationship with his wife, Helen, has played a significant role both on and off the course. Westwood’s wife has been on his side since 2018, which provided him with the stability and equilibrium needed to achieve his accolades throughout.
Westwood has always appreciated her presence and has been very vocal about her contributions at the game’s significant events. Although sometimes he has had different caddies, such as Billy Foster, for short periods of time, his wife remains his chief and most reliable partner.
The couple now embracing the HYROX challenge as a team is just an extension of their collaborative ethos. The compatibility and grind they share mirror the connection that has seen them overcome years of competition.
And as the next LIV Golf season approaches, Westwood’s recent offseason achievement serves as a reminder that passion and partnership never go out of style.
