Michael Thorbjornsen is considered a natural golfer, given his remarkable story, which started at birth. His parents encountered many incidents, which made them realize how he would be a golfer. His mother, Sandra Thorbjornsen, played golf in her college days, even playing the day before and after Michael Thorbjornsen’s birth. So, for Michael’s parents, his golfing career became evident when he swung a golf club at 8 months of age.

The 23-year-old professional was born on September 15, 2001, in Cleveland, Ohio. Thorbjornsen went to Stanford University, the same as Tiger Woods, Rose Zhang, and Tom Watson. His mother shared with NESN that when he just learned to stand, he took the golf club in his armpit. He then hit every ball and continued it every time.

Having Norwegian and Zimbabwean descent, his father is a Norwegian and his mother is from Zimbabwe. He was born and raised in the U.S., making him a U. S. professional golfer. Father being an engineer by profession has no idea about his son’s golfing abilities. However, skills lineage from his mother helped him in his career. Sandra Thorbjornsen, mother of the professional, used to play golf in her college.

The former US Junior Amateur Champion recently got the PGA Tour card for 2025 with his splendid performance at the junior level. Michael Thorbjornsen won the 2018 US Junior Amateur at Baltusrol and the 2019 US Open. Also, he was the first US Junior Amateur champion to enter the US Open after finishing 79th at Pebble Beach in 2019.

The accomplishments of Thorbjornsen came to a great conclusion after earning the pro card for the PGA Tour till 2025. He finished No. 1 in the PGA Tour University, which guaranteed PGA Tour status, much like a dream come true for the golfer, as he said during an interview with Sean Martin at the PGA Tour’s global home building: “I’ve been waiting for this my whole life.” There are many achievements of Thorbjornsen in his career; let’s take a deeper look into it.

The natural ability and golfing in the blood have helped Thorbjornsen to achieve greatness with each tournament he played. With seven amateur title wins till 2023. He turned pro in June 2024 and played his first tournament, i.e. 2024 Travelers Championship. He shot 8-under par 272 and finished T39 in the 71-player field.

While his career has just begun as a professional, he finished runner-up at the 2024 John Deere Classic, losing to Davis Thompson. The golfer has till now played 18 events out of which he was in the top 5 twice, top 10 thrice and 8 cuts made. His official earnings as per the PGA Tour have also crossed the 1 million mark.
