A mainstay of the PGA Tour since 1946, the Charles Schwab Challenge is scheduled to be back from May 22 to May 25, 2025, at the historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. With a $9.5 million purse, the victor of this year’s tournament is expected to take home $1.71 million. Although Colonial Country Club has hosted a regular Tour event for the longest time (79 years), the field is somewhat disorganized due to the tournament’s placement just after the PGA Championship and a marquee event before that.

PGA Champion Scottie Scheffler Heads Home
The tough 135-player roster for the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge includes both established champions and up-and-coming talent. Leading the field is Scottie Scheffler, who is riding high after recent wins as he returns to his home state of Texas. Scheffler is positioned as the favorite to win the championship because of his familiarity with Colonial Country Club and his recent performance.
Notable figures like Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood, Maverick McNealy, and Robert MacIntyre are joining Scheffler, bringing special advantages to the contest. The lineup is bolstered by former winners like Danny Willett and Kevin Kisner, and the tournament is made more intriguing by the special exemption granted to PGA pro Michael Block.
With a halfway cut on Friday, the field will be reduced for the weekend rounds in accordance with the tournament’s conventional format. Fans can expect a high-stakes golf weekend filled with strategic play and unforgettable moments as competitors compete for the coveted title and sizable reward.
