Paige Spiranac is going viral again. The outspoken golf content creator never holds back when speaking her truth. Sure, her other content draws in followers, but it’s her fearless opinions that resonate with fans and sports personalities alike. That is why when the queen of golf spoke up against the ‘double standards’ incident involving Sabrina Carpenter, Spiranac received a lot of support from beyond just golf communities. Everyone praised her for standing up for herself and encouraged her to always be true to who she is.
So when a former NFL wide receiver criticized three female football presenters for doing their job, Paige Spiranac came to their defense while providing an explanation. The incident occurred on December 7, 2024, after T.J. Moe tweeted a picture showing recognized female NFL presenters with the caption, “Who actually wants to watch three women stand around and talk about football? I do not.”
Spiranac grabbed her trusted camera and recorded a video to post on her X account, with the caption, “I’m sure this take will provoke only kind comments and absolutely no one will tell me to shut up because of what I like to wear lol.” An unapologetic Paige Spiranac started off by showing a glimpse of T.J. Moe’s tweet. Then, being the reasonable person that she is, the golf queen clarified that she also went through the response Moe received to his tweet, as the former NFL player had claimed that “Most people agree with me, they’re just afraid to say it,” after resharing the original tweet.

Paige Spiranac stated that most comments mentioned how people want to hear from professionals discussing sports “that they have once played.” She pointed out an error in the statement as she gave examples of some great male sports presenters like “Joe Buck, Jim Nantz, Jim Rome, Al Michaels,” who have not played the sports they present. “So you don’t need to play at a high level in your respective sport to have a deep understanding about it,” said Spiranac after sharing the examples.

She further explained how it’s extremely challenging for women who haven’t played the sport but have a deep understanding of it to break through the ranks as a presenter. She mentioned how these women will “never get the highest opportunities because men only want to listen to other men talk about that sport.” Spiranac then advised these women to “use whatever else you have in your toolbox to be able to get opportunities.” Sharing a page from her book, the former LPGA Tour pro explained how people won’t take you seriously if you use your looks to objectify yourself in the field. However, he mentioned that the women were “never taken seriously or given the opportunities because men want to listen to other men talk about sports.”
Addressing a possible debate about presenting for women’s sports instead, Spiranac shared that this side of the coin does not receive as much media attention. She stated, that “men want to watch men play sports. Men very rarely want to watch women play sports.” Spiranac suggested that is the reason why women athletes explore careers outside of their sports, as she gave an example of “Nelly Korda doing SI (Sports Illustrated).” While women are often criticized for such ventures, men who participate in similar projects rarely face the same level of scrutiny.

These were some great points mentioned by the golf queen, most of which stand true in the industry. Perhaps this can also be considered a relapse of the ‘double standards’, however, in a slightly different spectrum than the Sabrina Carpenter fiasco. Paige Spiranac did receive a lot of positive responses to her opinions, with most people agreeing with the double standards. However, there was a bit more to the video shared by her that can be considered a motivational conclusion.

A month ago, an account on X sarcastically praised Sabrina Carpenter as a “genius” for embracing her sexuality while still appealing to a primarily female audience. They questioned how performing in lingerie could feel empowering without catering to men. Paige Spiranac quickly jumped in, calling out the double standards. She criticized women who support others only when it’s convenient and emphasized that everyone deserves to embrace their sexuality without facing judgment.

Spiranac, known for her feminist views, believes in fairness and empowerment. And this time, after clapping back at the broadcasters, she addressed her fans and aspiring female creators, leaving them with an encouraging message to stay authentic. She advised them to “wear what you want to wear, say what you want to say, do what you want to do. Because no matter what you do, how you do it, you will always get pushed back and someone will always have something to say.” She ended her message for the women by asking them to “keep pushing.”
Spiranac didn’t leave the men out of the conversation either. She mentioned how “that is also a really great message for all men. Do what you want and keep pushing towards your passions.” Spiranac clarified that it may seem like she’s saying “all men are bad” when she speaks about such issues, but that is not the case. She stated that since she is a woman herself, she can “relate” to these issues more, but she is aware that men also face discrimination and they also shouldn’t give up. Do you also agree with Paige Spiranac’s views on the subject?
