Karl Vilips, who gives credit to Tiger Woods as his hero and the one who motivated him to play. He said at the PGA Tour Member Orientation in 2024, “He’s who got me into this sport, who motivated me to be who I am today. The mentality he brought to everything that he does.”

The young prodigy followed the footsteps of his idol as he is pursuing his graduation from Stanford. But who knew, years later, the rookie would be the first brand ambassador of his idol’s brand, Sun Day Red? The apparel brand showcases the new partnership on its official site, emphasizing the similarities between Woods and Vilips.

It is nothing less than a dream come true for a golfer who idolized Woods and is now partnered with him. The golfer’s happiness is evident in his statement. Recently at the Cognizant Classic post-round press conference, reporters asked him about his experience and reaction to the partnership.

Answering for that, he said, “Throughout the summer last year on the Korn Ferry I started playing well, and we kind of just decided to make it happen, and very fortunate to have been chosen by the GOAT himself.” In 2024, he finished at a 19th position on the Korn Ferry Tour. He won his first event, which was the 2024 Utah Championship. By partnering with him during his early professional days, they strategically utilized the golfer’s greatness.

Further, when asked about the reaction when he got the call for the partnership, he shared his emotion. “Yeah, it was definitely unexpected at first, but when I got the call, I was excited and honored to be able to represent Tiger and Sun Day Red. I’m the first one, so that’s really cool,” Vilips said. TaylorMade, previous partner of the golfer, helped in finding a connection with Woods’s apparel. While the biggest and most evident connection for the reporters was Stanford, where Woods also pursued his graduation.

However, apart from the speculation and connections. The GOAT has praised the rookie and has expected a glorious future in professional golf.

With his impressive track record and determination, I have no doubt he will make a significant impact quickly on the PGA Tour and is one of the game’s future stars.” The golfer, despite having financial struggles, has been making a mark on his professional journey with his exceptional performance. And the effort didn’t go unnoticed, as his idol praised him.
