The Nexo Championship is underway at the Trump International Golf Links, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, from August 20 to August 23, 2026. The total purse for the event increased from $2.75 million last year to $3 million this time. With that, the winner’s paycheck increased to $510,000, while even the last player on the leaderboard after making the cut will get around $5,700. However, DP World Tour pro Richard Mansell secured himself at least $10,000 even in the worst-case scenario.

The English pro arrived at the final round of the Nexo Championship 2026 with little indication that Sunday would turn into a career-defining afternoon. He carded a final round of seven-under 65 to set the course record and win a bonus.
“🚨 NEW COURSE RECORD 🚨 Richard Mansell shoots a final round 65 (-7) at Trump International and as it stands he will win a $10,000 prize courtesy of @Nexo 👏,” the DP World Tour announced via an X post.
The only bogey of the round came on the par-three third hole, where he found the rough after his tee shot. From 23 yards out, Mansell chipped from the bunker, but he missed a chance for a par putt from six feet. He then tapped in from eight inches for a bogey. Besides that, he hit six birdies and an eagle on the par-five tenth, holing a 100-yard approach shot.
Thanks to this record-setting final round, he finished tied for seventh with a collective score of five-under 283, six strokes short of winner Scott Jamieson.
Trump International Golf Links is reputed to be a stern test for golfers. Last year, only nine players finished under par, with the the 651-yard par-5 18th the toughest par-5 on Tour by threat score. Posting the lowest score of the day at such a difficult course is a real confidence boost for the English professional, who has earned only one career victory on the DP World Tour since joining in 2020.
He has also had limited starts: until now, he has played only 129 tournaments on the DP World Tour, and that’s one reason the $10,000 bonus carries extra weight.
Many professional golfers have spoken about financial trouble. Pablo Larrazábal, for example, told GOLF.com and the DP World Tour after his second round at the KLM Open 2026 that he was thinking about his wife, son, and money mid-round, which caused him to shake physically under the immense pressure. Similarly, Piers Berrington told Golf Monthly that many golfers on the mini-tours run out of money and are forced to give up the sport altogether.
Against that backdrop, the bonus lands at a meaningful moment for Mansell. He has had only six starts on the DP World Tour this season, missing the cut in four and retiring from the Dubai Invitational. He has earned a little over $60,000 all season, and this single $10,000 bonus represents around 17% of his entire season’s earnings.
This amazing feat comes after a grueling recovery from an injury.
Richard Mansell was forced to the sidelines after an ankle injury
Mansell stepped off a curb while playing the final hole of the first round at the Dubai Invitational, forcing him to retire from the round. Separately, he underwent hip surgery in mid-February to fix a persistent issue he had been dealing with for some time.
He missed 13 tournaments between the Dubai Invitational and his return at the Soudal Open 2026 in May.
“It’s been a bit of a struggle,” Mansell said about his return. “Now, I am just so glad to be back. I am back quite a lot earlier [than I expected]. See how we go this week and taking it from there. It’s a pleasure to be back.”
His return from the layoff was far from smooth, and he missed four consecutive cuts immediately after coming back. That makes this record-setting finish at Trump International even more significant. After months of setbacks and limited opportunities, the T7 finish, $10,000 bonus, and €66,160.82 paycheck give the Englishman a genuine confidence and financial boost heading into the rest of the season.
