It’s another milestone for Blades Brown. The 17-year-old prodigy netted a historic feat at the Korn Ferry Tour, while another young superstar, Charlie Woods, is still struggling to find his footing. Brown became the second person in history to make two cuts in the Korn Ferry Tour before turning 18. His first KFT cut came in the Club Car Championship early this month.

This time, the 17-year-old, who skipped college and turned pro, opened with a 2-under 69 at the Lecom Suncoast Classic. In the second round, Brown shot six birdies and two bogeys to post 4-under 67.

Later on, the Korn Ferry Tour shared that Brown became the second player in history to make two cuts before turning 18. Before him, South Korea’s Si Woo Kim was the only player to have played in two weekends at KFT before turning 18. Interestingly, last year, at the LeCom Suncoast Classic, Miles Russell became the youngest player to make the cut.

Brown’s achievement comes after his spectacular amateur career saw him rake in multiple titles and set new records in the process. In 2023, Brown replaced Bobby Jones as the youngest medalist at the US Amateur. He was two years younger than Jones when he broke the record. He also made the cut at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic, his first PGA Tour event.

In 2024, Brown joined Tiger Woods and Bobby Clampett as the only third player to earn the medalist honor in both the US Junior Amateur and the US Amateur. Brown posed with Woods at last year’s US Junior Amateur, where Charlie missed the cut.

There has been a sharp contrast between Brown and Charlie Woods, who used to compete against each other in tournaments. And in fact, they have followed a similar career path but are going in different directions.
