Everything was on the line at Summerfield. The Buccaneers had all their hopes on Charlie Woods to pull off an emphatic round to help them win the District 13-1A Championship. The young protege was under pressure as everyone from the Benjamin School looked on closely at every move he made at the Champions Club. In the end, Woods held his nerve and played a solid round. There was a brief slip, but it wasn’t enough to shake his strong showing.

On the eighth hole, Woods carded a double bogey in the second round, pushing him to ninth place on the leaderboard. Fortunately for him, the Benjamin School had a 5-stroke advantage. Hence, his 2-over-par 74 was still enough to help them cross the finish line.
As reported by The Palm Beach Post, the Buccaneers won the District 13-1A Championship on October 28, 2025, at Summerfield in Stuart, Florida. The team finished first in the district and qualified for the state championship, sealing a three-shot victory on 6-under par in what was one of the toughest district fields in the state, featuring four top-50 Florida teams. But, it wasn’t Woods who helped them get there majorly.

It was freshman standout Clint Lewis who stole the show individually, carding six birdies for a 5-under 67 to capture the district title. Benjamin’s Andrew Tsar also impressed with a 69, while Matthew Stigliano’s even-par 72 rounded out a balanced team effort that carried the Buccaneers to victory. Lewis finished two shots clear of Oxbridge’s Joey Iaciofano and Kenny Klein.
Benjamin and Oxbridge, the last two Class 1A state champions, now move on to the Region 4-1A Championships at The Park in West Palm Beach on Monday, November 3. This will precede the Florida High School State Championships taking place at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills from November 11 to 19. Along with them, the runners-up, Cardinal Newman and King’s Academy, will also participate there.

Despite the fumble, the win continues a remarkable 2025 season for Woods, who earlier claimed his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) title at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May. He later made headlines with a hole-in-one at TPC Sawgrass during the Junior Players Championship in September and helped Benjamin secure multiple team victories this fall, including the South Florida PGA Junior Golf West Coast High School Championship at TwinEagles in Naples.

Having said that, Tiger Woods‘ son can deliver some good results in pressure situations. Let’s take a look at how he could take on the challenge at West Palm Beach.
Can Charlie Woods tackle a mountainous task at West Palm Beach?
Back in the 2025 Boys’ Junior PGA Championship, Woods finished second in the penultimate round. He needed the runner-up finish to make it to the Junior Ryder Cup later in the year. However, he couldn’t maintain his form and dropped to T9 after a horrid last-day run.
That knocked Charlie Woods out of contention for the title and the Team U.S. spot. Having seen both sides of the coin, he now knows what he needs to do and avoid to perform well. It will be interesting to see if he manages to find the right rhythm to deliver the results at West Palm Beach. Charlie Woods will have only a few days to prepare for it, as the Buccaneers will expect him to perform better if they want to win the 2025 Florida State Championship.
For now, Benjamin’s district triumph marks another chapter in what’s quickly becoming Charlie’s breakout year. His poise and ball-striking continue to mature, and with confidence building, the postseason offers him another chance to underline just how far his game has come, much to the delight of his father, who’s recovering from his seventh back surgery and eyeing a return to Augusta in 2026.
