Over the past few days, Rory McIlroy has been attracting attention, though surprisingly not for his golf. Instead, the focus has been on recent personal events. Last month, the Irish golfer unexpectedly announced his divorce from his wife, Erica Stoll. It later emerged that “Rory was a hard person to be married to,” and Stoll had felt ‘lonely’. However, the golfer and his wife recently decided to resolve their differences and announced the dismissal of the divorce case. Despite this, rumors are circulating that McIlroy is apparently dating CBS reporter Amanda Balionis. So, how much of this is true?

It all started in May; on May 13 of this year, reports emerged that Rory McIlroy had filed for divorce from his wife after seven years of marriage. A week later, at the Wells Fargo Championship, Balionis interviewed McIlroy after he won the tournament. During the interview, both were surprisingly wearing matching clothes. The reporter also appeared to have a good rapport with McIlroy, giggling and seemingly flirting. Since then, the community has been speculating that they are romantically interested in each other.

On the other side, Balionis married football coach Bryn Renner. However, during the 2024 PGA Championship, she covered the final round at the Valhalla Golf Course without her wedding ring. There hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the status of their marriage. Balionis has neither posted anything on social media nor made any announcements about it.

However, even before the PGA Championship, in snippets from her interviews with golfers on Instagram, some fans noticed she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring and began to wonder if she was still married. But not long after @LIVTracking shared a post captioning “Rory McIlroy having an affair with CBS Golf Reporter, Amanda Balionis? Both have recently filed for divorce from their current partners.” Interestingly, this sparked further speculation about both of them dating.

That was about a month ago, and since then, there hasn’t been any update from Amanda Balionis regarding her marital status. As for Rory McIlroy, he recently announced that he was reconciling with his wife. Additionally, McIlroy addressed the rumors, stating, “There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game.”

It is evident that the golfer is aware of the ongoing rumors within the community. He has chosen not to comment much on the matter, as he has always been very private about his personal life. Recent developments confirm that there isn’t anything romantic between McIlroy and Balionis. However, an LPGA pro, Jenny Shin, refused to believe it and shared her thoughts on the matter.

What does Jenny Shin have to say about Rory McIlroy?

It happened a while after reports emerged that McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, are now getting back together. Shin shared a post on X, captioned, “I can’t imagine being with a man who’s accused of cheating with someone he sees often at his workplace, and the whole world believes it, whether it’s true or not. That’s some strength.”

Shin, emphasizing that even if the rumor about the golfer’s secret interest in Balionis is untrue, the whole world believes it, highlighted that it is hard to trust someone like McIlroy. She also sarcastically noted that Erica Stoll has the strength to resolve things despite all the drama. With that noted, what are your thoughts on the rumors and the incidents that have unfolded thus far? Do you believe these rumors to be true?
