Fans’ favorite golf broadcaster, Amanda Balionis, started her NFL stretch with the worst nightmare. Caused by a disc pressing on the nerve at the C4/C5 level, Balionis suffered from a pinched nerve. Coinciding with her father’s 7th death anniversary, the pain doubled as an emotional sword. However, her Instagram community never stopped supporting her since she first announced the flare-up. Getting back to the community, Amanda Balionis recently shared a health update on her agonizing nerve injury.

The fans flooded Balionis’ DMs, asking how the injury sat at the moment. Balionis, taking to her Instagram story, replied in a lighthearted, almost sarcastic tone, in sharp contrast with the intensity of her injury. “Okay a lot of you have been asking for an update on my pinched nerve. Sorry that we’re now all in this together,” Balionis joked. However, the good news for the fans is that Balionis is recovering quickly. “Better than it was a few days ago. I’ve had two treatments with a chiropractor, one acupuncture appointment, and I… yeah, pain is down considerably,” Balionis shared.

Chiropractic care has helped Balionis improve neck mobility and ease nerve pain, complemented by ice therapy and Advil. As a “final Hail Mary” before weeks of NFL coverage, she also tried acupuncture to trigger the body’s natural painkillers. Grateful for her fans’ support, Balionis remains optimistic: “We’re doing much better. Still uncomfortable but it does feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Her resilience shines as she continues her NFL coverage despite the pain and the recent loss of her father.

However, even after the treatments, the pain is far from gone. Speaking on her future treatment plans, Balionis remarked, “Still, have a tingly feeling in my thumb and my pointer finger, and we’re gonna get started on steroids tomorrow. So, we’re really hoping that that knocks it out.” It appears the pain that had travelled down her spine to her shoulder blades still has a say in Balionis’ body. However, reflecting her resilience, Balionis would continue her NFL stretch after a massive year in the PGA Tour.

Amanda Balionis pushes through health setbacks in a gruelling NFL season

Even after the fresh wounds in the flare-up on her father’s death anniversary, Amanda Balionis continues to set an example for athletes and fans alike. After a packed PGA Tour season, covering the Masters and the Tour Championship, Balionis started her autumn NFL stretch. Even after the injury, Balionis didn’t cancel the event coverage plans. Already ready to make her move, the immediate match coming up is the Cleveland Browns vs. the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, September 14, in Baltimore. However, that is just the beginning of this demanding season. Following up on September 23, Balionis is set to cover the Detroit Lions vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Days later, on September 29, Balionis will travel to Kansas City to cover the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.

This involves weeks of travel and physical strain from carrying equipment and luggage. On top of that, Balionis will also struggle with stifling back pain, which could be further aggravated with relentless travel. However, Balionis is not one to back down. She continues to display feats of resilience since the very beginning of her reporting career.

During the 2008 recession, Balionis suffered significant hurdles early in her career. Right after graduating, she returned to her hometown in Pennsylvania, where she joined a local newspaper. However, laid off just 9 months after joining, Balionis faced the first stumble in her career. But the very next day, she got a call from a Hofstra alum regarding an audition for a sideline reporter. With that began her career in sports reporting, and Balionis has never looked down since. Even through her personal struggles, Balionis shows up consistently, bringing her charisma to sports.
