Tiger Woods’s son, Charlie Woods, and Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, had vastly different experiences at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, often dubbed the “Masters of junior golf. Charlie, only 15 years old, shot a 75 in the final round, finishing the tournament 11-over par. Although he struggled on the back nine with four bogeys and a double bogey, his opening nine holes at 2-under par showed glimpses of his physical and mental skill in a sport where players often peak much later. This performance suggests that Charlie has potential and might improve with more experience.

In contrast, Kai Trump, boasting a competitive handicap of +0.5, lagged at the tournament. She shot an 89 in the final round, capping off a disappointing performance that left her 52-over par for the tournament. Finishing in last place out of 24 golfers in her group, Kai’s scores of 89-79-83-89 highlighted her difficulties on the course. Despite her struggles, Kai has shown promise in the past, earning All-County selection for Benjamin last fall and committing to play collegiate golf at the University of Miami.

Speaking on his latest YouTube video, Donald Trump heaped praise on his granddaughter Kai Trump, saying, “I just want to say that I play a lot of golf with Kai and she’s a fantastic golfer. She’s a scratch player, which is amazing. I think someday in the not-too-distant future, she’s going to be much better than Scratchy. But she’s doing really well, and she wins a lot of matches.” Trump’s enthusiasm for Kai’s golfing abilities was evident, showcasing her talent and potential as a golfer.

And someday she’ll be able to beat her grandfather. I’m not sure when that will be, my one-on-one match”, Trump continued, and well, Kai has played with Trump before, but not professionally. Back in 2024, Kai Trump shared photos and videos of a golf outing with her grandfather at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. She captioned one image “Sundays with Grandpa” and the other “Elon achieving uncle status” when posing with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his son X Æ A-12.

In a 2024 Q&A session, Kai lit up when asked about what she’s learned from her grandfather. Her answer? Classic Trump wisdom: “Never give up.” She said he always pushes her to chase her dreams relentlessly. Well, Trump being so sure of success awaiting his granddaughter doesn’t seem very far-fetched, because Kai is already on the path for it.

Kai Trump is making her name in the world of golf

While her performance at Sage Valley was underwhelming, Kai is known for her strong short game and mental toughness. So, Donald Trump is a proud grandpa in the making! The support is reciprocated. In a 2024 video of a phone call between the two posted by NUCLR GOLF, grandpa Trump casually boasted about his best nine-hole score at Bedminster – a cool 32 – calling it “a tough nine.” But wait, it gets better. Trump, ever the competitive spirit, asked Kai how his clubhead speed stacked up against Bryson DeChambeau’s. Kai, not missing a beat, confidently replied, “I think yours is a little faster, honestly. You definitely hit it way farther than him.” Trump, with a grin, shot back, “That’s right, honey.”

It’s no surprise, given that golf is a favorite sport of both Donald Trump and Kai. As a junior at Palm Beach’s Benjamin School, Kai has already made a name for herself in the golfing world and has committed to playing golf at the University of Miami. Kai Trump’s massive social media following and her NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal with TaylorMade are headline-worthy.
