As it’s getting clearer by the minute, Adrian Newey will most likely be exiting Red Bull at the end of the season, and many are wondering where he will go. The current Red Bull CTO is unhappy with the way the management of Red Bull is going and the news of him leaving has prompted new opportunities for others.

Aston Martin and Ferrari are already going full throttle in trying to bag the mastermind behind the RB20. This has triggered a chain reaction with almost all the teams wanting the Newey magic. Now that he is actively being pursued by Aston Martin and Ferrari, F1 Pundit Peter Windsor has reason to believe that McLaren might try to get their star engineer back too.

Zak Brown wants Adrian Newey back

During the Live F1 chat podcast with Peter Windsor, the 72-year-old was asked if McLaren would join the Adrian Newey race. When one fan stated,”I really hope McLaren tries to get him back” Windsor got all excited and responded, “so there’s another one, Zak. Brown, and then Zak, of course, is massively into his classic historic race cars as well. “

He explained the similarities between the McLaren boss and the Red Bull engineer, stating, “As is Adrian. They’re probably quite good mates. They’re both doing the Monaco Classic, so you know Zak will be in there, absolutely. He’ll be in there trying to get Adrian back, won’t he?”

Zak Brown is passionate, not only about his team but racing itself. So is Adrian Newey, which gives them a reason to work together according to Windsor. Newey is not a stranger to the McLaren garage, being the engineer for the team from 1997 to 2005. During his time at McLaren, he helped produce the car that made Mika Häkkinen win two consecutive world championships in 1998 and 1999.

Considering his success at McLaren, it might not come off as a shock if he were to join the team and help Lando Norris win his first Grand Prix. So far, Newey has designed championship-winning cars for 3 teams. This is what has built the hype around the engineer beside the Red Bull dominant cars. Let’s take a look at his achievements in the world of F1.

Adrian Newey F1 Career Highlights

Adrian Newey’s potential departure from Red Bull is sending shockwaves through the Formula 1 community. He has played a role in bringing 3 teams to the world championship position. Before Red Bull, it was McLaren for the Briton, and before that was Williams.

First seen making Damon Hill a world champion in his Williams FW18 back in 1996, he made a championship-winning car that won 12 of 16 races in that season. Williams continued to dominate for the next season when Newey left for McLaren and that’s where he helped Mika Häkkinen become world champion with the MP4 and MP13.

Coming to his latest employer, Red Bull, where he has established himself as one of the most talented engineers in F1. Along with Red Bull, he has helped design cars since 2021 that have consecutively made Max Verstappen the world champion for the last 3 years.

That being said, Verstappen is in contention for becoming a 4-time world champion this season. Do you think the RB20 will help the Dutchman reach his goal this season?
