The Buffalo Bills have a rich history. Besides being one of the eight founding members of the American Football League (1960), the Bills also have a massive fanbase. Although in recent times, Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, and Kansas City Chiefs are names many NFL fans from outside America would identify, the Bill’s Mafia can still hold its own ground with a current F1 driver as proof.

Daniel Ricciardo, among other sports, is a fan of football as well. Most people go with the simple choice and back the most popular guy and team in the league. However, Ricciardo listened to his heart when choosing his NFL team. The result? Buffalo Bills! Why? Well, the outgoing McLaren man has explained his choice in detail as to why he chose the Bills and quarterback Josh Allen over Tom Brady.

Back in June, Daniel Ricciardo sat down to answer Google’s most searched questions. When the “Why is Daniel Ricciardo a Bills fan?” question popped up, the McLaren driver had an entire explanation.

‘Honey Badger’ explained, “They’re the great kind of underdog team, they’ve got an awesome fanbase, they love getting put through tables. They’re rowdy, they’re loose. I feel it’s a little bit of the kind of person in me and like all my mates, I feel like we’re very much like that. We are a little wild at times and we would fit in the Bills Mafia.”

Not just an assumption, Daniel Ricciardo explained his decision to ESPN. He said, “Obviously I met Brady and that was amazing, and awesome. But it would have felt like a bandwagon. [But] everyone was Brady and Patriots, so I thought I’d do something a little different.”
