Christian Horner just needs an excuse to lash out at Toto Wolf whom he cannot be “best buddies” with. The two live on a knife edge as the Red Bull TP recently defended a crime against Red Bull as he terms Lewis Hamilton’s 7 years of dominance as “lucky”. With his own team showing a thumping dominance, let’s see what’s the reason behind Horner making such comments.

F1 fans have been calling out Red Bull for their dominance ever since the new ground effect regulations were introduced. However many tend to ignore the kind of dominance that Mercedes had back in the turbo hybrid mid to late 2010s era with Lewis Hamilton winning 6 titles in a span of 8 years before the regulation changes. Christian Horner has now come out to label Lewis Hamilton and Co’s dominance as a crime.

Horner explained how Red Bull had to wait for 7 long years from 2014 to 2020 before they could win another Driver’s Title. He suggested that it was a punishment for Red Bull and people get less punishment for committing a crime. He further added how his team didn’t lose focus and got back to winning ways once they built a competitive engine in partnership with Honda.

According to F1Maximaal.com, Christian Horner during the ESPN Unlapped podcast said “Seven long years. That’s a very long time. You get even less punishment if you commit a crime! We had to wait until we were in a competitive position again. We had to watch Mercedes keep winning, but we never lost sight of the target.” He then added “Once we had a competitive power unit we could compete with Mercedes. They were lucky it was so easy for them while we had to run on one leg!” [Translated via Google]

Amid this, Toto Wolff suggested that Red Bull’s pace is so far ahead that it makes the other cars look a class below them.

According to SkySports.com, Toto Wolff said “That’s where they are – it’s like a field of Formula 2 cars against a Formula 1, and they’ve done the best job. As long as you’re within the regulations, they’ve done the best job.”
