“Not what we wanted today. Racing incident, but Oscar was too optimistic. He was never side by side and that move has never really worked in Spa. Congrats to the team and Charles on an encouraging result. We’ll keep pushing after the break!,” wrote Carlos Sainz, blasting Oscar Piastri after his contact with him at Spa. But his latest message after a racing incident is the polar opposite. Considering how he called a spade a spade, his latest admission of guilt has fans wondering if the move to Williams is already final.

The Canadian GP weekend brought high hopes for Williams, with both cars having qualified better than in the past. Logan Sargeant went into the barrier twice, eventually being out of the race, while Alex Albon was unlucky as Carlos Sainz’s spinning claimed him as the victim. It left him nowhere to go as the out-of-control Ferrari collected the Williams and sent him into the barriers. Admitting his mistake, Carlos put out a tweet, apologizing to Williams.

He wrote, “A race to forget for the team. The entire weekend has been on the edge for us. I tried to push in the DRS train to overtake and did a mistake on the kerb. Sorry to the team and to Albon. We now need to understand what happened here and move on.” But F1 Twitter read between the lines to declare that this has only happened because Sainz is moving to Williams.

In 2023, a similar incident took place. Oscar and Carlos came together on Turn l at Spa after starting from P4 and P5. Ambitious to make up positions, they collided with each other after Sainz aggressively came inside to overtake Lewis Hamilton for P3.
Getting close to the barrier, the Spanish driver did not see that Piastri was already there and collided with him, which caused sidepod damage to his car and suspension damage to Piastri’s MCL60.

Subsequently, Carlos blamed Oscar on a public platform. This hasn’t been the case with Alex. Let us take a look at what X users have to say.
One user ‘called it’. He said the apology could only mean that he had already signed a contract with Williams.

Do you think Sainz wrote what he wrote because he wanted to be civil with his future teammate?
