Will Buxton, one of the well-known journalists in the F1 paddock, has been in the firing line of the entire Lewis Hamilton fandom for his alleged ‘hate’ towards the 7-time world champion. There were indeed quite a few instances to prove this, but, we’ve chosen the obvious one.

The Brazilian Grand Prix triggered a heap of controversy, with Max Verstappen ‘forcing’ Hamilton off the track around turn 4 and the stewards deciding against imposing a penalty on the Dutchman. Unfortunately, Buxton made the mere mistake of supporting Verstappen in this battle, reckoning the turn 4 incident was fair. What followed was an insane uproar from the Hamilton fans who thrashed Buxton on social media for his allegedly biased opinion against the Mercedes driver.

This is only one of the many examples. Hence, it is quite blatant that Buxton would have had to tackle his way through a lot of negativity throughout the 2021 season.

Buxton proves the Lewis Hamilton fans wrong

The Briton has finally managed to show his abundant respect for Hamilton through a rather painful loss he endured after the season. Buxton took to Instagram to reveal that a pipe rupture led his home office to end up partially flooded.

Amidst the chaos, Buxton opened up that he had lost many replaceable things including electronics, but grieved the loss of one irreplaceable gift; His most precious F1 memorabilia, a signed acrylic painting of Lewis Hamilton.

Returned home at the end of the season to a partially flooded home. A poorly installed pipe from the house build let go and two weeks of running water focussed itself almost entirely on my office. The computers and tech I can replace. The memorabilia I can’t.

Caught a lot of negativity this year from Hamilton fans who think I don’t like or respect him. So I thought I’d show you one of my most treasured things, utterly ruined. Absolutely gutted,” he wrote.

Overall, love or hate, losing something of such value will indeed crush anyone’s heart, and Buxton’s statement says it all. Hence, let’s hear it from you – Do you think Buxton deserved the hate?
