F1 has sailed past 20 exhilarating race weekends filled with thrills and spills and all that’s left of the 2021 season is the Saudi Arabian GP and the Abu Dhabi GP. The former event, in specific, has had numerous concerns prevailing over it, even before the start of the race weekend.

Saudi Arabia is a new entrant and has been busy building an F1 circuit in the port city of Jeddah. Of course, the work has been in full swing since the start of this season.

But, the latest images have clearly shown that there are still a handful of boxes to be ticked and the given time period might just not be sufficient for the organizers to provide F1 with a fully completed Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Interestingly, both the F1 sporting director and the CEO have promised the fans that the circuit will be ready by the time the cars arrive for round 21 of the season.

Where is the Jeddah F1 circuit?

The high-speed Jeddah Corniche street circuit is situated along the coastline of the Red Sea. The circuit provides an insanely scenic look with nothing but water on one side and classy high rises on the other. Hence, the race is going to be quite a spectacle for the fans. Not to forget the design of the paddock itself.

Jeddah could well be the most beautiful F1 circuit on the entire racing calendar, rivaled possibly only by Monaco and other classic circuits.

Will Saudi Arabian GP take place?

This has been a question many fans have raised in recent times. Of course, why wouldn’t they? The circuit, itself, is still under construction, with barely two weeks in hand for the event. Things will indeed get awry if a red flag falls over the Saudi Arabian GP at the very last minute.

That doesn’t seem to be a possibility if we go by the words of Steve Nielsen, sporting director of F1. Speaking to Motorsport, he promised that the circuit is ready to host the event as the track is ready, even though the facility, on the whole, is not.

“They’re up against it, they are. But they’re literally working 24/7 as they have been for quite a long time now. I saw some more photos this morning, and they’ve made huge progress,” he said.

“But still a lot to do. So it really is going to be down to the wire. But they’ll get it done. Everything we need to put the race on safely we’ll have. I’m confident of that.”

Overall, the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will take place, but the only uncertainty that is persisting at the moment is how the buildings will reach 100% completion with less than two weeks to go.
