Ferrari had a double points finish this weekend in Jeddah, their 16th so far this season. The two drivers were battling it out for a good part of the race. They were involved in a close incident during lap 23. The Spaniard was not happy when his teammate Charles Leclerc overtook him going off-track and he demanded the position back. Eventually, it did happen when Sainz claimed it back in the following laps. Nevertheless, the Monegasque finished ahead of him in P7 after overtaking him again two laps from the end of the race.

Sainz warned Charles Leclerc of a penalty
Leclerc lost a considerable number of places after a crash with Sergio Perez. After the grid was rearranged following the red flag, the two Ferrari drivers found themselves in 10th and 11th place. Meanwhile, the lap 23 incident was a tough one for Sainz. He overtook Leclerc down the straight but the Monegasque claimed it back going wide around the turn. Sainz was not on-board with this idea. In a radio exchange that followed, he demanded his position back. âCome on Charles, donât do this. I passed him! Tell him to give me a position immediately. He is gonna get a penalty if notâ
The intense fight went under Leclercâs belt in the end and he says they enjoyed it. âWell Carlos was behind at first, then he overtook me while I was struggling in the first three laps [of the restart] with the hard [tyres] and then I had quite a good pace actually, and managed to overtake him two laps to the end. It was a good battle. We enjoyed it, I think, both of us,â said the Monegasque after the race.
Ferrari has a comfortable lead over Mclaren
The Red Team has the most double points finish this season. With Mclaren putting up solid performances at the beginning of the season, the fight for âbest of the restâ seemed tight at a moment. However, Ferrari has almost claimed that spot with a comfortable lead over the Surrey-based team.
