McLaren’s time at Silverstone is proving to be incredibly successful. Both drivers have been on the top half of the table the entire weekend. They will start Sunday’s race in the third row of the grid – Lando Norris with a P5 and Daniel Ricciardo, P6.

Going into the weekend, there was a concern about both drivers’ mindsets. Daniel Ricciardo had been underperforming for a majority of the season and was considerably slower than his teammate – who was mugged at Wembley earlier that week.

The mood wasn’t exactly the best in the McLaren garage. Nonetheless, everyone was as focused as ever, and it showed on the track. During a post-race interview, Norris was asked about the incident. He wasn’t too pleased with it, saying, “This takes my mind off it so, just don’t ask that question.”

Daniel tried to take the attention away from Norris by trying to take his watch.

Lando didn’t seem too happy with his teammate’s jape and said nothing. Thus, Daniel pat him on the back and left it at that.

Norris’ frustration is completely understandable; the 21-year-old has stayed away from the topic, barring a thank you to the fans for support. Yet, every interviewer has repeated the same question. Daniel, being much older than his teammate, has tried to help him in any way he can.

Good pace at Silverstone for Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo ended the Austrian GP inside points and hopes to continue on the same trajectory at Silverstone. While most weekends look like a rollercoaster for the Aussie, Danny has remained consistent in Great Britain.

Both practice sessions saw the Honey Badger setting fast laps on the timesheets. Stumbling only a little at qualifying, Ricciardo managed to get to Q3 in what seemed like forever.

Daniel’s McLaren stood seventh on the sprint qualifying grid. And after a tough battle with Fernando Alonso, he found some wiggle room and took the opportunity. After an exciting sprint session, he secured a sixth-place start for himself for the British Grand Prix.

As the weekend culminates in the race, the Papaya team look forward with bated breath. McLaren’s competition, Ferrari, have also caught up with Charles Leclerc’s incredible performance during the sprint.

Norris and Ricciardo have the superior position, but will they maintain it? It’s a battle between the orange and the red in the midfield at Silverstone.
