Despite all the scrutiny Lewis Hamilton receives on a daily basis, one has to stop and appreciate his legend. The Brit not only defied the odds by becoming a part of a rich sport coming from humble beginnings, he also ruled it. Still the only driver of color on the grid, Hamilton fights every day to add diversity to the sport. In fact, it’s his work off the track for his community that makes him more than a seven-time world champion. These are exactly the qualities of Hamilton that fly under the radar from time to time. However, time and again, there comes somebody who appreciates them.

Ahead of the Spanish GP, it was Canadian rapper Mustafa, the poet who appreciated the Brit. The singer captured a majestic photo of the W14 and posted it as his Instagram story with his thoughts about the Brit penned down as the caption.

The brainchild of Lewis Hamilton advocating diversity in motorsport is already bearing fruit

Hamilton has often voiced his desire to see more diversity in motorsport. After his words fell to deaf ears, the Brit took the responsibility into his own hands and funded a study called The Hamilton Commission. This gave birth to his charity Mission 44, promoting STEM learning among children, which will showcase results in the long run. However, the other aspects of Mission 44 are already bearing fruit.

Extreme E McLaren team’s senior engineer Leena Gade said, “But also they partnered with Lewis Hamilton’s organization to make sure that you’re getting more people in who are coming from diverse backgrounds. And I think that’s not spoken about quite so much. At the moment, dealing with the Hamilton Commission, you get to have an extra team member. So instead of having nine, you can have ten because you’re bringing somebody in who wouldn’t normally get the opportunity.”
