Lewis Hamilton had a humble, middle-class upbringing. He has always been a family man, supporting his father and brother in every way and never shying away from seeking their support. And, while we know a lot about his parents and race car driver, there is one important person in his life who is rarely mentioned. His grandfather- Davidson Augustine Hamilton.

The Mercedes driver has been close to his father, whom he credits the most for making him a racer, but he was also close to his grandpa. The senior-most Hamilton was a man of style, as many fans pointed out as one of his photos was shared widely on Twitter. The photo was of him watching his grandson race at the 2007 Brazilian GP while he was sitting in Grenada. Fans pointed out how his characteristics have clearly been passed down through the generations and how Lewis carries them proudly.

Lewis Hamilton’s grandfather passed away just days before the Briton won his fifth title in 2018 in Mexico by defeating Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. And there was the time when he heard him speak about his beloved family member. He, as quoted by the Guardian, said, “Naturally, when someone passes away, it brings the whole family together. He was the godfather of the family. My dad and me were already quite close but it naturally brought us a little bit closer.”
