Red Bull’s 2021 F1 season is looking very promising. Not only did they acquire Sergio Perez in the offseason to strengthen their driver lineup, but the RB16B also looked flawless during pre-season testing in Bahrain. Max Verstappen must be a happy man in the garage.

But how has the relationship between fresh recruit, Sergio Perez, and Max Verstappen been like? Are they gelling well or are there any signs of animosity between the two?

“He is just a very chill guy. There are no political things going around him, you know. He just enjoys driving, and we have had good fun in these couple of times we have spent together,” said Perez.

The brand of Red Bull is dependent on their genius marketing. So, it is natural that they have asked both Perez and Verstappen to participate in building media content.

“We have done a lot of stuff, actually; it’s been unstoppable! We have spent like two days together, doing stuff for media. So far it’s been enjoyable. And Max is just a young guy who likes life and gets on with driving.”

Should Max Verstappen be worried about Sergio Perez?

Max has a track record of beating every single one of his teammates in his F1 career. His spoils include Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Daniel Ricciardo, and Carlos Sainz. But Perez has the most experience of them all.

So, should Max lose some sleep over having him as his teammate?

“I don’t see it like that. Why should he be worried about me, or why should I be worried about him? I think we both come here to do our best possible job,” Perez answered.

Even though Max shouldn’t be worried about Perez, he should be wary. He can’t underestimate the driving talents that the former Racing Point driver posses. Perhaps, as they are mingling, Max could also learn a thing or two about the art of tire management from him.
