Is it 1997? Because a Williams is going quicker than the Ferraris and a Red Bull. Well, Red Bull didn’t exist back then, but Ferrari did. And Red Bull is the quickest car now, but the Williams of Alex Albon has out-qualified Sergio Perez’s RB19 in 3 consecutive sessions. Though the RB19 has a better race pace, Albon has still been putting up a good fight. And as per an accredited F1 media, Max Verstappen & Co. even offered him a seat in the RB family. But what has he done? He’s turned down an offer from Red Bull!

Albon in his FW45 has been extracting more than there is to the car. He started showing his potential Canadian GP onwards as Williams brought a major upgrade package. The Thai driver drove his car to finish P7 in Montreal. There was some mighty defending that he did to get that tough P7 finish. And at the British GP, he qualified in P8, way ahead of Sergio Perez in P15. And the impressive part was that he held onto that P8 on Sunday, getting 4 valuable points for the team. After that, the Red Bull bosses even commended him for his performance.

And the latest and most exciting addition to the string of news is the Thai Driver getting offered a seat by Red Bull. According to Yhavbec Lopez, accredited F1 media, he’s turned that offer down to stay with Williams. Getting that seat is a dream for all drivers, provided the 2nd seat bad luck doesn’t strike them. Well, what can we say? Maybe he prefers working with a team that respects drivers and helps them during tough times.

This decision by Albon might even be a very smart one. Because he has all the inside information on the team’s progress and knows the direction in which it is headed. As we saw at Silverstone, Williams is getting quicker and turning back time.

Alex Albon Set to Change Direction for Williams’ By Capitalizing On the Team’s Progress

After so many years, Williams is not the slowest car on the grid. George Russell would have wished for this when he was driving for them. And the progress has become visible because Albon is experienced enough to maneuver his way around the racetracks. And being the primary driver, he has to work well with the team for such success to be seen.

Albon said, as quoted by The checkered flag, “We’re now P7 in the Constructors’ Championship tied with Haas, so we’re in a very good place. The points aren’t always available so we need to make sure that in the few races where we can score points, we capitalize on them.”

If Albon can manage to have a better race pace than Red Bull, Perez’s future could be looking bleak. And Williams might finally get the long-lost glory that they have been working for since their last championship in 1997.
