What we actually see of our F1 stars is just a limited perspective restricted to the cameras. Behind all the speed, the glitz, and the glamor there lies the concerning aspect of reality. While in our eyes, we’ve glorified and idolized the drivers and paddock insiders, in real life, they are all as human as us. That is to say, for them, there is a life outside of the racing spectacle. And with that comes the burden of making pragmatic choices for love and for family. Max Verstappen and his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet are the perfect example for us.

Piquet was born into racing royalty. Even though she is currently attached to 2x champion, Verstappen, we can’t forget that she is the daughter of 3x Formula 1 world champion, Nelson Piquet Sr. And while racing has always been in her blood and on her mind, as she grew older, she did have to take some very important and selfless decisions.

Kelly Piquet talks about her parenthood struggles

While Piquet has been honest about how difficult the early phase of her pregnancy was, the struggles didn’t end there. With the responsibility of a daughter on her shoulders, the Brazilian model has had to, more often than not, prioritize Penelope over other aspects of her life.

While speaking to Kek Mama, Piquet revealed, “It is never easy and there is no magic formula. Therefore: Go with the flow and deal with everything as it comes. Planning is essential, but you also need to remember that not everything goes according to plan. My family always comes first, so if I feel my child needs me more than usual, I change my work schedule.”

Though Piquet does find it difficult to manage her busy schedule alongside Penelope, but she does have a respite in the shape of her beau, Max Verstappen.

The Max Verstappen on track is a very different man from the one who’s off of it. And this was first brought to the forefront by Piquet’s daughter, Penelope! Verstappen has seamlessly dropped into the step-father role, and it seems as though the duo of Verstappen and Penelope have really hit it off!

Even when the Dutch lion is busy perfecting his craft on the simulator, he has all the patience and love for Penelope that a young daughter needs. A prime example of this went viral on Twitter recently as Verstappen was needed whilst he raced online.
