As the qualification for the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix was concluded, the outcome wasn’t what anybody would have seen coming. Haas driver Kevin Magnussen starts tomorrow’s sprint from P1, while the man with the most poles, Charles Leclerc, starts from P10. Despite some good runs by Leclerc during the qualification, yet another strategy blunder by the Italian team robbed his chances to stay up the order.

In spite of showing some good pace today, the end result didn’t reflect Leclerc’s efforts, as the Maranello-based team once again misjudged the right tires. By the time they figured out what went wrong, it was too late to make amends as everyone else was on slicks while Leclerc was on inters.

A late red flag brought by George Russell after he went off the track halted the qualification, while the rain afterward ended things for the young Ferrari driver. Leclerc, who was pushing for a P2 finish by the end of this season against Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, was dealt a severe blow.

Failing to go on a good flying lap, as well as having an imperfect strategy with the tire, killed the day for Leclerc. However, his only hope is to go up the order in tomorrow’s sprint. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz starts from P5.
