First sprint race of the season and boy was it action-packed. We saw a lot of tussles all across the field with Max Verstappen being on the rare receiving end of it. The Dutchman lost his position in the opening lap of the sprint race to George Russell. The Mercedes man was on Verstappen’s tail from the get-go and was ahead of him before the first lap. However, the Dutchman wasn’t happy with the way the Brit made his overtaking move. Verstappen quickly got on the radio to protest against Russell’s move and the fans shared their thoughts about the incident on their personal radios, Twitter.

The Dutchman complained about Russell touching Verstappen’s RB19 on two occasions during the opening lap of the race. The contact by Russell helped him get past the Dutchman. The gained position was illegal according to Verstappen, and he communicated exactly that on the radio, as revealed on Twitter.

“Did he [Russell] really drive into the side of me?” Asked Verstappen and then continued, “I don’t get how he can damage my car and keep the position. I find it ridiculous.”

The Dutchman asked his team to report the incident to race control. However, his grievance fell on deaf ears and it was deemed a racing incident. The Dutchman was furious about the fact that Russell was allowed to keep his position. The fans, however, did not appreciate these incessant complaints.

Ever since he step foot in the circus, the Dutchman has often garnered criticism for one aspect of his racing or the other, downsides of being in the limelight. The Dutchman is facing such treatment for years now and has developed a resistance to it. So even though he might moan on the radio now and then, he shouldn’t be affected by what the fans think about it.

Because what the fans think about Verstappen’s complaints isn’t all that nice.

The fans were quick to label the aggressive Dutchman a hypocrite. Some fans even predicted the eventual outcome as Verstappen moaned about the contact during the race.
