Anthony Hamilton revealed in an interview that being teammates with his son was a “career killer” move. However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has no answer for the same.

Toto Wolff doesn’t think Hamilton is a “career killer”

Lewis and Toto have had a long and successful partnership since his move to the Silver Arrows. It’s safe to assume that the Austrian boss knows Hamilton well. In an interview with F1 back in 2017, the Mercedes boss explained what he thought about Anthony Hamilton’s “career killer” statement.

Wolff mentioned, “In my opinion, Lewis is the best driver in modern Formula One. Also, because he is driving the best car. That combination is very hard to come by.”

He further stated, “Sure, having Lewis as a teammate is probably the most difficult task you can have as an F1 driver. Does it kill careers? I don’t know.”

Lewis has won 6 world championships with Mercedes since his move from McLaren. Furthermore, he recently completed 200 races for them at the end of this season.

Like most of his fans, Anthony Hamilton was equally proud of his son for putting on a brave championship fight in 2021. Despite losing out to the Dutchman in a controversial fashion, Hamilton revealed what his father told him and how it was a special moment for the Mercedes driver.

Lewis Hamilton told Vogue, “He embraced me, and I think he was like, ‘I want you to know how proud I am of you.’”

He further added, “Having your father embrace you in that way is one of the most profound things ever. Especially as you’ve grown up not many times having that.”

Lewis would hope to add to his 103 race wins next year as Mercedes hope to fight back after a disappointing campaign.
