Everything seems to be going right for McLaren. Lando Norris broke his unwanted 15 ‘podiums without a win’ streak to bag the top prize at the Miami GP. Though Oscar Piastri couldn’t get a podium finish, his performance was not short of brilliant. To keep this momentum up, Zak Brown & Co. has announced a special surprise for McLaren fans and possibly his two drivers for the Monaco GP.

McLaren is historically the best Monaco GP performer. They have won 15 races around the prestigious Circuit de Monaco, which is the most for any team, followed by Ferrari with 10 wins. Unfortunately, after 2008, they haven’t had much success in the Principality. However, on the back of their 2024 developments that have nearly caught up with Red Bull, the energy within the team is electrifying.

To keep this up, the Woking outfit is turning back the clock. In an ode to their F1 success and former driver, Ayrton Senna, McLaren has launched a timeless apparel collection. They’ve gone back from the Papaya orange to the vintage red and white clothing. “We’ve just dropped 𝑻𝑯𝑬 McLaren collection. 😍 Don’t miss out.”: said their Instagram post’s caption. The Zak Brown-led team is indeed switching gears on and off the track.

Fans are even expecting them to bring back the vintage red-and-white livery at the Monaco GP taking place from 24th to 26th May. There is a high possibility of this happening as well. For the 2023 Monaco GP, McLaren introduced a special ‘McLaren Triple Crown’ livery to celebrate their success in the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

From the dire state McLaren was in at the beginning of 2023 to becoming the second-quickest team now, they have come a long way. Brown believes that a big chunk of credit for this transformation goes to Team Principal Andrea Stella.

Zak Brown bows down to Andrea Stella’s game-changing leadership at McLaren

Zak Brown was McLaren’s Team Principal till the end of 2022. Apart from their Italian GP 1-2 in 2021, the American wasn’t successful in improving the team’s performances significantly. But as soon as he handed the reins to Andrea Stella, their fortunes changed. After a 3-year-long hiatus, they finally won an F1 race.

“He’s really changed everything,” Brown told Sky Sports in Miami, about Stella’s influence. “If you look at the start of the year, he’s just changed a few people and then put Andrea in charge. He’s just done an unbelievable job leading the team, getting everyone very focused, communicating, listening, and leading by example. He’s very demanding, but he’s very thoughtful. As far as leaders go, he’s as good as you get.”
