The iconic prancing horse, Ferrari, is facing an enormous crisis. And McLaren is doing no better as it faces a disastrous season right in the face. The troubles appear to be never-ending for them, as assumed from the opening two rounds. Now, to fix their troubles and bring back better times, they seem to have gone the Ferrari way and are possibly restructuring themselves to take gigantic leaps on the grid.

On the other hand, Ferrari’s foundations appear to be collapsing, with high-profile departures and disappointing track performances. The team’s recent struggles have led to rumors of more personnel changes, with senior executives like Laurent Mekies already leaving and reportedly joining McLaren. Following suit is the departure of key engineers like David Sanchez, who was responsible for last year’s F1-75 and the current SF-23, which is another blow to the team’s already struggling aerodynamics department. 

David Sanchez’s departure from Ferrari and joining the struggling McLaren side means that the team’s technical director, James Key, is stepping down from his role, as reported by Autosport. But the criticism from the papaya army is unreal as they lambast the team’s administration. The new signing in the aerodynamics department comes as the Woking-based squad readies itself for the new wind tunnel. After a period of leave at Ferrari, Sanchez will return to work at McLaren, which he initially left in 2012, having joined in 2007.

The loss at Ferrari becomes McLaren’s gain?

Fred Vasseur’s approach at Ferrari has been gentler, and the departures have continued. Nevertheless, the loss of Sanchez, one of the key architects of the team’s current car, is a significant blow to the team’s already struggling aerodynamics department. However, there seems to be no panic with Frederic Vasseur in place as they continue to promote their talents and not hire any outsiders. Whereas, McLaren seems to be signing anyone coming out of the factory in Maranello.
