Life as an F1 driver is glamorous and fun-filled, as Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris will tell you. The McLaren pair detailed some of their off-track “naughty” hotel escapades. The intensive travel and stress of the races come out in different ways. Some F1 drivers take to sky-diving or hiking and some trash hotel rooms, or rather floors.

The pair dished out some incidents at Hilton Bentley Miami in a panel discussion celebrating Miami Grand Prix. The incidents involved pools, parties, and hotel rooms and or floors they absolutely destroyed. Some things are better left unsaid. Probably the case when Lando whispered in Daniel’s ear before he shared a story.

While the crowd yelled “spill” after the incident, we’re not sure Lando shared the same story. “We got kicked out of the pool. We were being naughty in the pool and everyone, not just me, got kicked out. So we went up to the rooms [and] had a nice party in the rooms,” Norris remembered.

“And that was that,” is how he finished the story before apologizing for any disturbance they might’ve caused. But we have a feeling he isn’t really sorry. The McLaren pair suffering through a poor weekend in Miami on the track enjoyed the off-track activity.

Daniel Ricciardo dehydrated after the Miami race

Teams will do anything to reduce the weight of their chassis and increase the pace. And that’s exactly what McLaren did at the Miami Grand Prix. The team reduces its water capacity to decrease the weight of the car. We feel bad for Ricciardo, who drove in the scorching Miami heat with limited water.

But the half-empty water tank of McLaren did not affect the pace. Daniel at P13 and Lando with a DNF spell more troubles for McLaren. They will look forward to the Spanish Grand Prix. The McLaren car tested brilliantly on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the pre-season testing in February.

With less water in Miami Grand Prix, we don’t know what McLaren will try for Barcelona. But here’s hoping the drivers don’t have to suffer more because of the absurd tactics from McLaren.
