Absolutely no one has come even close to challenging the mighty Red Bull of Max Verstappen. In fact, the Milton Keynes outfit equaled McLaren’s long-standing record at Silverstone. However, it was McLaren that made Red Bull question their superiority at the Woking team’s home GP. The second of the three-part McLaren upgrade put the MCL60 right behind the RB19. This scenario has sparked a scary update from Red Bull. At the Hungary GP, Verstappen and Co. will execute their secret plan and increase the gap to the rest of the field and counter FIA’s $7 million punishment.

McLaren’s upgrades gave them an incredible chance to conquer the British GP for the first time since 2008. However, Verstappen was there to spoil the party once again. The Dutchman not only secured pole position at the death, but he swept Norris aside in the race as well, despite a poor start. Although the British GP was too close for comfort for the Austrian team. After getting in the habit of winning with a 20+ seconds gap, the gap in Silverstone was reduced to mere 3 seconds. This scenario will see, as revealed by former driver Christijan Albers on the De Telegraaf podcast and quoted by F1 Maximaal, Red Bull introduce upgrades for the Hungarian GP. These upgrades will see Adrian Newey use his “secret” plan to counter FIA’s $7 million and reduced wind tunnel time penalty.

“If you have such a big lead, then you have the luxury of pushing that program forward,” says Albers about Red Bull’s updates. “I think Newey is secretly looking at other cars and then developing them further. They’re going to take that penalty one day anyway. They are the best, but there are always parts on other cars that could be better.” (Translated via Google)

Verstappen revealed, “I honestly don’t know what will happen in Hungary, who will be fast or the second fastest. Hungary is a completely different circuit. We will put some upgrades on the car, and hopefully, they will work well. Drag, low speed, high speed, DRS effect, tire wear—we are working on all those areas. I do not make a joke.”
