It has been a horrendous couple of race weekends for the entire unit of Red Bull Racing. The Milton Keynes outfit, having led both the championships till the start of the British GP, have given up the lead after securing a measly 2 points altogether out of Silverstone and Hungaroring.

That’s not it! Red Bull’s advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko, had revealed that the Hungarian GP incident could potentially force the team to change their power unit on the Dutchman’s car, pushing him to the brink of facing grid penalties in Belgium.

However, to add to Red Bull’s woes, the Austrian has another unpleasant news. Only this time, it is coming from Sergio Perez’s garage.

What did the Red Bull advisor say?

As reported by Racing News 365, Marko revealed that Perez, like his teammate, Verstappen, might face a grid penalty at Spa. Why you might ask? The Austrian feared that Bottas’ impact on the side of Perez’s Red Bull may have damaged the power unit.

“It’s a mixture of frustration, anger, helplessness, and despair,” a grim-faced Marko said. “The last two races can be summarized for Red Bull as ‘collateral damage’.

“We were comfortably in the lead in the championship. And now we are not only behind, a chassis and an engine has also been destroyed and possibly a second power source as well.”

Of course, Mercedes were there to pick up the scraps, leftover by their rivals. The Brackley outfit garnered 55 points from the two Grand Prix weekends, leaping to the lead in the constructor’s championship with a close 12-point gap to Red Bull.

The 78-year-old sounded absolutely disgusted with the change of fortunes for Red Bull, most of which were caused by Mercedes drivers.

Hence, he revealed that Red Bull are helpless, with Mercedes getting away with minimal punishments for their on-track mishaps.

“That means we can expect a grid penalty later in the season because we have to use more than three engines. It’s ironic that we can’t do anything about it and that Mercedes, whose drivers are the drivers, are taking advantage of it,” he said.

Overall, Red Bull would be pleased with the arrival of the summer break, with things seemingly turning haywire for the team. So, can the Raging Bulls return stronger for the Belgian Grand Prix, where winning prospects are much higher compared to Mercedes?
