Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce had become an F1 team owner last year. But the pop music idol is owning all the racers in Formula 1 with her charm now! First, it was Charles Leclerc who went to Swift’s Italy concert and had a blast with his girlfriend Alexandra Saint-Mleux. Also present at the ‘Eras’ tour show was Alpine racer Pierre Gasly and his girlfriend Kika Cerqueira. And now, the Swift fever has taken over yet another F1 reserve driver who is yet to step into a regular role in the pinnacle of motorsports–Liam Lawson.

Lawson is a Red Bull junior who is getting a lot of attention from F1 pundits right now. The New Zealander has already made his F1 debut last year since he substituted for Daniel Ricciardo when the Honey Badger could not race for VCARB. In fact, all eyes were on Liam Lawson at the Singapore GP 2023 where he scored his first-ever F1 Championship points by putting up an amazing performance. And in recent news, everything points to a possible VCARB contract for Lawson.

Now, Lawson has been featured on an Instagram reel for Red Bull Racing. In the clip, he showed off his “Swiftie” skills as he finished the lyrics to some famous Taylor Swift songs. While you might not be able to connect adrenaline-loving F1 racers to connoisseurs of cheesy pop songs, Liam has proven that he can be both! As the 22-year-old aced his test, Red Bull’s official Instagram admin delivered his verdict in the captions by mentioning, “Liam is a Swiftie.”

When the interviewer asked Liam Lawson to complete the lyrics that came after “I don’t know about you/But I’m feeling…“, the ex-F2 second runner-up quickly replied with, “22!” And then, he even said, “Hey, I’m 22!” But then, Liam Lawson decided to mix things up by adding his own twist to the famous lyrics of “Love Story“. So, after the iconic lines–“It’s a love story, baby just say…“, Liam added, “No.” Well, Liam Lawson might have said no to Taylor’s ‘Love Story’ lyrics, but what does Red Bull have to say about the possibility of Liam replacing Ricciardo at VCARB?

Red Bull might say “no” to Liam Lawson’s VCARB requests now

Liam Lawson has been a loyal Red Bull junior since 2019. However, he has a contract with the team that will make him a free agent if RBR fails to offer the New Zealander a seat by September. So, if Liam wants, he will be able to exit the Red Bull umbrella and seek a seat for himself in another outfit then. But this might make you wonder why Red Bull hasn’t already announced Ricciardo’s move to Sergio Perez‘s place and Liam’s move to Ricciardo’s, right? Well, it’s because Perez has played a masterstroke by asking Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim to stop Red Bull from replacing him.

Now, Christian Horner has totally backtracked from their initial plan of getting Daniel Ricciardo into Red Bull. This sounds ominous for Liam Lawson since VCARB cannot give him a regular racing role as long as the Honey Badger does not get the seat beside Max Verstappen. With only two months left before Liam’s contract deadline, Red Bull is running out of time to announce its decisions regarding his future.

Thus, Liam Lawson’s future in Formula 1 hangs in the balance while Perez has repeatedly failed to perform for Red Bull. On the other hand, Daniel Ricciardo is now considering his retirement at the end of 2024. So, what do you think will be Horner’s final decision that will set the fate of these three talents?
