Liam Lawson might strike gold in 2025 as per Eddie Jordan! The Red Bull and VCARB reserve driver has waited too long on the sidelines. Ever since getting a podium finish in the 2022 edition of the Formula 2 Championship, Lawson has been a favorite for getting a seat at F1. However, the Hastings native has not found a suitable position since Red Bull and its sister team were already juggling racers like Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez, and Yuki Tsunoda.

But Liam got his much-awaited break in Formula 1 when Daniel Ricciardo needed a break from his AlphaTauri (now called VCARB) duties. The New Zealander substituted for the Honey Badger at five different Grands Prix and his performance at the Singapore GP 2023 stole the attention of the Red Bull leaders. Since then, Liam Lawson has been in the news as the most potent F1 debutant in 2024. However, luck did not shine upon him as the Racing Bulls chose to continue with Yuki Tsunoda‘s partnership with Daniel Ricciardo over hiring a rookie like Liam Lawson.

Now, Liam Lawson is prepping for a 2025 appearance in Formula 1. He has a contract in place that will allow him to become a free agent and approach other teams for a job if Red Bull fails to offer Lawson a seat. But according to F1 pundit Eddie Jordan, the situation will never come to Liam walking out on Red Bull. This is because, when David Coulthard asked him to predict the Austrian team’s lineup for 2025, Jordan told him, “Yes [Verstappen will stay at Red Bull next year]. Liam Lawson [will be his teammate]. Remember those words, guys.

Red Bull’s Liam Lawson pick might earn Verstappen a Championship

The fact that Max Verstappen is a golden goose for Red Bull is not news to anyone. Christian Horner’s army could return to their former glory, scoring Constructors’ Championship wins and Drivers’ F1 titles just because of the Dutchman. And to help him, RBR had taken up Sergio Perez in 2021. The Mexican proved his worth during that season’s finale in Abu Dhabi. And if Liam Lawson does take Perez’s place, then the New Zealander must help Max win races too.

As per Eddie Jordan, Lawson will be successful in helping Max Verstappen bag an Abu Dhabi win. The Briton speculated, “Uhm, in ’25, my forecast is that Max will win both ’24 and ’25 and it’s all up to what goes on. It’s too early for my balls to be looked into to see where the drivers are going.” Thus, Lawson has made a bold claim that Verstappen will go on to win 5 World Championships to equal Juan Manuel Fangio’s record.
