All Lewis Hamilton had to say was “The one I really, really want to see is South Africa,” and the F1 gods would make his wish come true. Reportedly, a South African GP might happen! The circuit last hosted a race some 29 years ago in Kyalami. If the revival is in talks, then we can expect the circuit to make a comeback not any later than 2024.

Kyalami GP is much awaited by Sir Lewis Hamilton

Formula 1’s growing popularity gifted it with three new dazzling races in America. The Las Vegas GP was only announced a few weeks ago, sending fans into a frenzy. If this wasn’t shocking enough, Ed Sheeran and Green Day will be performing at the United States GP this year. In addition to that, it seems like there is no end to Liberty Media and FIA’s wishes to expand F1 to every single continent.

A Kyalami race is in talks after Hamilton expressed his wish to race there. Kyalami was scraped off the F1 calendar after 1993 but kept hosting motorsports events till the 2000s. Porsche South Africa CEO Toby Venter brought the track back and might take the responsibility for reiterating it. So, F1 will look forward to an upgraded FIA Grade 1 status to the track, after only which a race can be held.

Lewis wants to race on his homeland

Hamilton expressed both his own wish to race in South Africa and the necessity to do so. He said, “I think it’s important for the sport to go there,”

“If they’re in every other continent, why not? The one I really, really want to see is South Africa. That’s the one I want to hear next that gets announced. Ultimately, my ancestors are from there – so that’s why it’s important for me personally.”

Moreover, everybody deserves a chance, like the Vegas GP, which reportedly initially provided drivers with a poor track to race on. This Grand Prix could be a game-changer for the sport as they really look forward to getting F1’s popularity absolutely unmatched as it reaches the nooks and corners of every city.
