Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher are the two drivers in the history of Formula 1 to have way more titles than anyone else. The Mercedes ace and Ferrari legend have seven F1 world titles each. However, for Hamilton, he’s not worried about the numbers.

Admittedly, one more title for Hamilton, and he’d become the driver with the most titles, unlikely to be broken by anyone in the near future. Despite this, the Silver Arrows star has revealed that it will not bring a huge change in his life.

When asked, “Winning the eighth title, what would it mean to you? What would change?” by AS, Hamilton replied, “I would not change anything. I know who I am, where I come from, and what I am capable of. I have no idea if I’m going to win it, although I work to achieve it, but it certainly won’t change anything important in my life.”

The Briton shared these while in pursuit of his eighth world championship last year. “The numbers are not what worries me the most. I care about what I am,” further asserted the Mercedes maestro during the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix.

Former F1 champion thinks Lewis Hamilton is still hungry for an eighth title

The Seven-time world champion is still hungry for his eighth world title, according to Damon Hill. The 1996 F1 champion is of the opinion that despite all the pressure, Hamilton still has the hunger to fight for the record-breaking achievement.

As per Autosport, Hill conveyed, ‘‘It’s an enormous amount of pressure to put on yourself. There comes a point where people think they don’t want the pressure. But I still think Lewis is hungry.”

“I think he really, really wants the eighth, but he would prefer to get it fighting everybody than having it on a plate with a better car than everyone else with not much competition,” conveyed the Briton.

Admittedly, Hamilton lost his chance to win his eighth title last year in the very last lap of the season. Amid losing the controversial title to Max Verstappen last year, the Silver Arrows driver has come back to fight for it once again in 2022.

As things look like, Hamilton will need to wait yet another season to fight for his eighth as Verstappen has almost retained his championship this time around. It’ll be interesting to see how Hamilton comes back to fetch the record-breaking title in the coming years if he doesn’t retire.
