The Brackley outfit grossly misinterpreted the new regulations and produced a disastrous car. However, moving on, the team introduced massive upgrades in Monaco and instantly started reaping the rewards. The race in Spain is showcasing the team’s moving in the right direction now. This is exactly why the Mercedes technical director issued a warning to Max Verstappen to watch out for Lewis Hamilton.

The Brit, in 2022, ended the most incredible streak thanks to the poor state of the car. However, with the confidence James Allison, the designer and technical director, talked about, as seen on Twitter, the team’s progress, it seems a race win for Hamilton is inevitable. In fact, a race win and progressive steps in the right direction over time could bring Hamilton up to Verstappen’s speed.

Allison asked and answered, “Can this car become competitive enough to win a race this year? I’d say, with a following win, yes it can. We can, if we do the right things over the remainder of this year and across the year, be in the championship fight for the following year? Even even more yes,” concluded the Mercedes technical director.

However, the tools might be missing, but the desire is still there in Hamilton. The Brit has been rubbing his hands together in hopes of battling it out with Verstappen once again. “I hope we get to have some, at least within the last period of time in my career, I hope we get to have some more close racing,” confessed Hamilton.
At this moment, no records or stats matter to Hamilton except one, the eighth championship. We, like him, would like to see him win it after an intense battle with Verstappen.
