“It’s rattling your freaking eyeballs out of your brain. Apart from that it’s fantastic but jeez, they need to hire someone better. Don’t know how you could do such a bad job in layering the track,” the Mercedes driver said.

The organizers paid Aggregate Industries around $2.45 million to resurface the track, but with several flaws in the work, the company could be forced to pay more. There was no significant issue at the Formula 1 event as Lewis Hamilton himself took home the honors.

However, the 2018 MotoGP in the venue witnessed five accidents because of the poor surface. As a result, the motorcycle’s governing body, FIM, canceled their contract with the British GP. This cost the Silverstone organizers a whopping £3.5 million ($4.2 million) in revenue.

Following the debacle, Formula 1 contracted Tarmac Trading Ltd from 2019 to lay the track. But the losses pertains to $9.8 million and so the organizers have taken an action against Aggregate Industries.

He suffered a horrific crash during last year’s British GP while trying to overtake Lewis Hamilton. Fortunately, he did not suffer any injuries, as Hamilton won the Grand Prix.

While the Dutchman has only won one race here, Hamilton holds the record for most victories in Silverstone. The Briton has won it a record 8 times, 3 more than any other driver. And after a strong Canadian GP, he will look to carry on this momentum and bag his first victory of 2022 on his home turf.
