His surname is one of the most recognizable in the world of sports currently. But recently, in an event, the Mercedes driver announced that he would add his mother’s surname to his name.

Lewis Hamilton to add his mother’s surname in the 2022 season

The 7-time world champion mentioned that soon we will know him as Lewis Hamilton Larbalestier. Hamilton was born to Anthony Hamilton and Carmen Larbalestier in 1985. He spent most of his younger years with his father, who helped him in his career.

But Lewis revealed that he does not understand why a woman loses her name after marriage.

” I’m really proud of my family’s name Hamilton, but none of you might know that my mum’s name is Larbalestier. And I’m just about to put that in my name,” said Lewis.

“I don’t really fully understand the whole idea when people get married – the woman loses her name, and my mum, I really want her name to continue on with the Hamilton name. Hopefully soon, but I don’t think it’s going to be this weekend,” said Hamilton, behind the reason for adding his mother’s name.

It is genuinely a very sweet gesture from the Mercedes driver. He has always credited his mother for her support in his career and his life send thank her for everything that she had done in his childhood. It would be interesting to see Larbalestier added to Lewis’s name in the 2022 season.
