The Alfa Romeo driver and ten-time race winner, Valtteri Bottas, is extremely excited about Audi’s involvement with Sauber (the company that operates Alfa Romeo). He believes that the merger will rather give him and the team an opportunity to grow. In fact, the Finn hopes that Audi steps sooner than they decided.

As per recent reports, Audi and Sauber have agreed to begin their partnership in 2026. As the news made the rounds on the internet, Bottas took the opportunity to voice his opinion.

Currently, Ferrari supplies and manufactures the engines for the team. However, as Audi takes over, the supplies and manufacturing will also be taken care of by the German team.

As well know, Sauber races as Alfa Romeo in Formula. However, as Alfa Romeo ends its involvement with the outfit after 2023, Bottas requests Audi to step in and start the process of the transition. He believes this would help with tremendous improvements and hold enormous potential.

When asked about his views on the subject, Bottas shared, “I think that depends on how much Audi is going to support this team before they officially become a manufacturer.”

Furthermore, he added, “But then I think it depends on the support from 2024 onwards, how much they are willing to support. If they are really helping a lot and supporting and if the power unit is good in 2026, which is impossible to predict at the moment, then why not?”

The talented Valtteri has had a pretty eventful past with Mercedes, where the Finnish man contributed to bringing home five consecutive constructors’ titles.

However, Sauber, on the hand, has had its struggles. Since their entry in the year of 1993, the team has only bagged one race win.

With Audi coming on board, Bottas believes that Sauber will get the push it needs and will open doors to bigger possibilities. He said, “I think for this team, if you look at the big picture, I think it is huge. There is a big potential for Sauber with Audi.”

He emphasized that the focus of the team was to do better and succeed in the future. And every individual involved is serious about achieving it.

In conclusion, he said, “I think that for any driver on the grid, and especially me now being already a part of Sauber, it would be very interesting to be a part of that project if it is possible.”
