It’s been a race weekend to forget for Alpine. Both of their drivers had to retire their cars. For Esteban Ocon, it was a mechanical issue with his car because of which he retired as early as Lap 10 of the British GP. And for Pierre Gasly, it was a tough battle with Lance Stroll that eventually resulted in a collision, forcing his A523 to retire with a broken rear suspension. But, after the race, instead of having a chat with Stroll, Gasly was seemingly angry at Carlos Sainz for something.

Gasly and Stroll fought for positions a couple of times during the race. In the 1st instance through Stowe, the wheel-to-wheel battle resulted in Gasly leaving no space for Stroll. So, the Aston Martin driver went off the track and completed the overtake. Gasly was furious on the radio and wanted Stroll to give the place back. But to his surprise, the stewards did no further investigation into the matter.

And the 2nd instance was in Lap 46 when they came very close again. But this time, there was contact. Stroll seemed a bit too aggressive at Turn 16 and in trying to overtake the Frenchman, he drove into the rear of the A523. And as a result of the damage caused by the accident, Gasly had to retire his car. However, the 27-year-old seemed more irritated by Sainz’s overtake in Lap 45 than Stroll’s in Lap 46.

During the post-race interview, the Ferrari driver was speaking about his race to the media. While he did so, Gasly came from behind, pushed his shoulder, and threateningly said, “Don’t push me like that, Carlos.” This unsportsmanlike action of his did not go down well with the fans. And they criticized him for being a hypocrite because he pushed Stroll off the track as well.

Fans Call Out Pierre Gasly for Hypocrisy as Carlos Sainz Gets Caught In the Misfire

It was a pretty frustrating weekend for Pierre Gasly. He got into Q3 but was the slowest among the top 10. Nonetheless, he was showing some good overtaking skills, something that he was known for in AlphaTauri. But the battles with Lance Stroll did not help in improving his state of mind. And in his head, the stewards had done a crime by not giving him his position back.

Ah, man! Feels bad to see when such great talent gets wasted owing to such pettiness. Hopefully, the Frenchman can learn something from his mistakes. What happens on the racetrack should be left on the racetrack.
