In the entire season, no driver has even gotten a whiff of a race win. However, when the only time there was an opening, Carlos Sainz took it and how. The Ferrari man was rapid and ruthless throughout the 2023 Singapore GP weekend. In fact, his race win in Singapore was just a sign of things to come from the previous weekend’s pole position. Although, the last few laps in Monza between Sainz and Charles Leclerc raised a lot of concerns about an aspect that finally is coming to light. According to a report by El Nacional, the Spaniard has a change of heart toward Ferrari which has infuriated the Tifosi.

The Spaniard has been donning the Ferrari overalls since 2021 but only after the 2023 summer break, he has gotten the better of his teammate. Undoubtedly Sainz has become a better performer compared to Leclerc in the second half which is exactly the root of the problem.

As seen on Twitter (now X), Sainz’s future is again in doubt because of his treatment by the team. According to the report, Sainz is feeling ignored by Ferrari and believes Leclerc gets the preference despite the performances. This favoritism apparently sees the team focused on Leclerc and improving his race results which has cost Sainz valuable points.

The second aspect of the same problem is despite performing better than Leclerc, Sainz will only earn $12,000,000 in 2023. This amount is almost half of what the Monegasque will earn in 2023. The report suggests Carlos will only extend his contract if Leclerc leaves Ferrari. This is a highly unlikely scenario and all signs point to Sainz vacating his Ferrari seat.

This is perhaps the second step toward Sainz leaving Ferrari as previous reports suggest he has already taken the first step. This is exactly the cause of the Ferrari fans’ fury.

There are a lot of teams who would sign Sainz after the Spaniard proved himself as a race-winner for Ferrari. However, for the Italian outfit, it will still be a huge blow as Sainz has been a loyal and diligent servant for the team so far.

However, this apparent condition to see Leclerc leave in order for him to continue at Ferrari is seeing him face the angst of the fans. Some fans gladly said goodbye while others called out his hypocrisy and questioned the entire thought process.

The fans are confused and in disbelief, as this report contradicts the Spaniard’s statement from last week.

It obviously perplexes fans given how good Carlos has performed lately. Anyone would not him to create a stir for irrelevant reasons, as he has a golden chance to capitalize on his resurgence at the Scuderia.

Leclerc & Sainz are one of the top driver pairings on the F1 grid. So no Tifosi wants to see them break apart.

There is little to pick from right now in terms of performance between the two as Ferrari is not as quick as Red Bull. Of course, if Carlos was losing wins to Charles, it becomes a different case altogether.
