Max Verstappen was on fire in Miami FP2

The Dutchman is among the favorites this season, and he has the pace to fight for the championship. However, Verstappen has already faced two DNFs in the last four races. The reliability of the car has been a concerning issue for the Austrian constructor. So, they even had a new gearbox installed in Verstappen’s car during the FP2 of the Miami GP.

The reigning champion even came on late on the track during the FP2 because of the changes. However, he had to end his practice session as soon as he came on the circuit. The Dutchman faced issues with the car’s steering. And if that wasn’t enough, the rear right brake of his RB18 also caught fire and nearly led Verstappen into an incident with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll.

Later, team principal Christian Horner revealed that Max had issues with hydraulics, which led to the incident on the circuit. The Red Bull boss said, “We changed the gearbox and one of the coolers and he drives out and has a hydraulic issue which has unfortunately caused some damage to the brakes.”
