Ever since the start of the 2022 season, Red Bull has demolished the competitive nature of F1. The Austrian team is furthering this dominance with their performance in 2023. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have accounted for all the wins in the current campaign. However, out of the 12 races, Perez has won just two and Verstappen has racked up a mind-boggling 10 wins. This scenario has made many, including Lewis Hamilton, call the sport boring and urged intervention from the higher powers. Although, the F1 CEO Stefano Domencali and a former champion did not agree with the Brit.

Mika Hakkinen won the championship in 1998 and the following year as well. Hakkinen told RacingNews365 that Hamilton’s claim of the sport becoming boring is ridiculous. In fact, the Finn claims for a select group of fans, this is an incredible scenario.

“When I won and dominated in 1998 together with my teammate David Coulthard, the year felt fantastic,” said the Finn, as quoted by Motorsport-Total. “I didn’t find it boring and I’m sure Max feels the same way. He’s not bored and he doesn’t think the races are boring either.” [translated via Google]

Although this prolonged dominance might be boring for a set of fans, “but, fans of Max think it’s the best thing in the world,” says Hakkinen.

Not just this Hakkinen also believes Verstappen will break all of Hamilton’s records. Not shying away from reality, even Hamilton shares this opinion.

Lewis Hamilton believes Max Verstappen will break his records over time

Hamilton has racked up some otherworldly numbers during his time in F1. Most would imagine the records Hamilton has set will stand for generations to come. However, the Brit believes his ardent rival Max Verstappen will break all his records if he continues at this pace.

Hamilton said, “He’s [Max Verstappen] got a very long career ahead of him so absolutely. Ultimately records are there to be broken and he’s got an amazing team.”

Lewis does not mind the records being broken but he does want a last round before he bows out. “I hope we get to have some, at least within the last period of time in my career, I hope we get to have some more close racing,” he expressed.
