McLaren is the second most successful team in the history of our sport. One often remembers the glorious days when Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna drove for the team. However, this year, McLaren has reminded us of their recent dark past. The subpar show in 2015 may stand to see a repeat in the 2023 campaign with no sign of improvement yet. Despite the massive troubles at home, CEO Zak Brown has found time to point fingers at others.

Zak Brown, who is at the helm of massively struggling McLaren, has declared Formula 1 is no place for “dreamers”. As quoted by Formula Passion, Brown has declared that he would like to see more cars on the grid, which may bring the right resources to the sport. The man who has been a supporter of Andretti’s entry in the past also gave a caveat.

He said, “As long as they are an addition to our sport, I would like to see more cars on the grid, that would be exciting. I agree with an increase in the starting grid of the right teams, which bring the right resources and which add to what we all try to do to contribute to the growth of this sport.”

He added, “The only credible and sustainable team I have seen in the last decade is Haas, so we have to make sure that if someone comes in, they are committed to doing what it takes: because in my experience, in different motorsports, you see many dreamers. We don’t need, for the health of the sport, a team that comes in and underestimates what it will take, and two years later it’s gone .”

While it may seem like Brown was in the opposition, very recently he had declared that he was in favor of Andretti’s entry.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown declared his support for Andretti

While the association of Andretti with Cadillac and General Motors even saw the leader of the opposition, Toto Wolff changed his stance into a bit of support. Brown had gone all out to declare his support. Last month, he declared that he would love to see the grid expand.

Brown said, “I think what’s come to light is that three or four teams are going to put forth entries. I’d love to see the grid expand with the right terms and conditions. We know I’m a supporter of Michael and Cadillac, and I think they’d be healthy for the sport. I’m probably in the minority in that thinking.”
