With the recent upgrades kicking in, Mercedes appears to be on a roll since Lewis Hamilton’s podium in Australia. With the deficit to Aston Martin on the decline, the Imola upgrades have got all the fans hyped up. The team hopes for a better qualifying and race pace as the package is the first step in the new development process. But being wary of the limitations, it doesn’t want Lewis Hamilton and George Russell fans to expect things to turn around overnight.

The upgrade package promises a lot. It could be a make-or-break factor for the Silver Arrows as they step into the triple header. Looking forward to competing for the podiums, even George Russell hints at better performance from the upgrade but remains conscious. However, if the car doesn’t perform as per the simulations, it could hurt the team’s morale, which reached an unprecedented low two rounds into the season.

Talking about the upgrade, Danica Patrick shoots a warning toward Lewis Hamilton & Co. as the expectations in the undertones are extremely high. Quoted by F1 Maximaal, Patrick, a former  IndyCar driver, says, “Then it will be a completely different season. The challenge will come if they don’t see what they want to see. They have high expectations, and if it doesn’t meet those expectations, if they don’t make enough progress, the test will be to keep their heads above water during the triple-header.”

Mercedes’ rest of the season depends on these upgrades. It could either turn things around for them for the coming seasons or send them back to the drawing board. But regardless of anything that may come their way, the team must be ready to deal with the worst and keep itself floating.

Jenson Button roots for Lewis Hamilton

The triple-header will be an exciting phase of the season, as things might shuffle quite a bit. For Mercedes, the goal is to fight Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin, who’s clearly emerged as the second-fastest on the grid. And with Mercedes already gathering pace and performance over the last three weekends, the new direction adopted is believed to be the right one.

The oncoming upgrades have not just Mercedes fans hyped up but also former world champion Jenson Button. Registering his hopes, Button says, “They told us they’re getting a big upgrade for Imola. It’s an important weekend for them. We are all excited, we need teams that jump forward to fight the leaders. Hopefully they get into a position where they met Aston Martin can fight. They will not be able to fight Red Bull yet.”
