Daniel Ricciardo has been one of the most charismatic drivers on the current F1 grid for much of the last decade. The Aussie has always been a fun person to hang out with and demonstrated just that in his Top Gear appearance back in his Red Bull days. Ricciardo took on the famousStar in a Reasonably Priced Car’ challenge, coming out with the quickest time and some cracking jokes.

Ricciardo kicked off the lap and was straight into the jokes. The Aussie went “race face on arghhhh” straightaway. He then added, “Chicks will go crazy for this!” joking about his hot lap in the Suzuki Liana, although he definitely had a ton of women fawning after him. His funny quips and reactions continued throughout the lap.

Ricciardo in the end secured a time of 1:42.2 around the course, which was seven tenths quicker than former record holder Lewis Hamilton.

This season though Ricciardo has struggled to find such pace in his McLaren MCL36 and languishes in P12 in the driver standings. The Australian enters his second season whit McLaren however, he continues to struggle to find the performance which saw him finish P3 in the driver standings on two occasions. Although it has been a tough season, Ricciardo has a plan set in place to improve his results with McLaren.

Speaking to Express Sport, Ricciardo said, “I’m just being real – there haven’t been any strong signs [of a win] so far this year”.

“I don’t think anyone would have predicted me winning a race last year….it reminded me anything is possible, especially in this sport,” speaking of his surprise victory at Monza last year.

Ricciardo remained optimistic and added, “The higher up the grid I am, the happier I’ll be with the result…I haven’t been able to do what I expected of myself, which is to get top sixes every weekend and not have many off weekends.”

He will be hoping his plan for a revival kicks in sooner rather than later. He currently trails his teammate Lando Norris by 47 points in the drivers’ standings, a deficit he will hope to cut down as soon as possible. The next race in France is where Ricciardo will look to enforce this plan of his.
