Ever since the start of the 2022 Formula One season, the entire Ferrari squad has been on their absolute limit, seeking redemption for the embarrassing 2020 heartbreak. Charles Leclerc got the Maranello outfit off to a flying start in Bahrain, officially announcing the historic racing outfit’s return to the top of the standings.

Of course, there has since been a tough fight from Red Bull Racing, flaunting themselves as one of the fewest teams to trouble Ferrari’s growing title hopes. Things took a wild turn in Imola where it almost looked like the Milton Keynes outfit could well take control of the championship fight as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez accomplished a dominant 1-2.

But, quite crucially, over the very next weekend in Miami, Ferrari have reclaimed the baton off Red Bull’s hands. A dreamy Saturday afternoon in Miami witnessed Leclerc clinch his third pole of the season. And to glorify the result further, Sainz blitzed past Verstappen to complete a front-row lock-out for Ferrari.

Of the five qualifying sessions so far this year, we have a feeling that Ferrari might just enjoy this particular session a bit more. Here’s why!

Charles Leclerc recreates Michael Schumacher’s record

Here’s something interesting about Leclerc’s qualifying in Miami – The Monegasque secured his fifth consecutive front-row start of the season. And guess which Ferrari driver accomplished the same in the past! Well, it’s quite obviously the great Michael Schumacher.

The German racing legend recorded this astonishing qualifying streak back in 2004. Now, almost two decades later, Leclerc has recreated Schumacher’s feat in the United States. But, that’s not it! Leclerc also equaled Sebastian Vettel‘s all-time Ferrari record with 12 pole positions overall. Hence, it is safe to admit that this 24-year-old is currently enjoying what could be the best spell of his career.

Now, let’s shift to Ferrari on the whole. It isn’t just Leclerc recreating old records, but the entire team itself.

Thanks to Sainz, the Reds have finally ended their front-row drought. The last time Ferrari recorded a front-row lock-out was back in 2019 at the Mexican Grand Prix; 3 years later, they are finally back at it.
