Competitive motorsport is arguably the most difficult field to carve out a niche for yourself. That being said, the ones who manage to do that are instantly idolized. Lewis Hamilton is one of those few. However, the legacy he’ll leave behind in this sport with 7 (and counting) world titles is hardly replicable. But you wouldn’t blame his contemporaries or even someone in an adjacent sport to hope to emulate his feats. Anyone saying otherwise would be living in a fool’s paradise. But boxing legend Tyson Fury seems to disagree.

The Brit, who’s dubbed as the Gypsy King, is a legend in his own regard. His illustrious boxing career boasts of scalps like Klitschko and Wilder. That being said, he isn’t too fussed with the accolades his contemporaries are scoring. Accusing Hamilton of being too mainstream, the British pugilist demands more royalty!
In an interview with The Telegraph, Fury said, “A few sportspeople have it [a knighthood]. Sir Mo Farah, Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Lewis Hamilton, Sir Andy Murray. Well if all them people have had it, then I’d like something that no one else has had, especially a sportsperson. I’m a normal man but a limited edition, so I’d like something different.”

All things said and done, you’d expect at least a bit of national camaraderie, wouldn’t you? However, as things stand, Tyson Fury doesn’t seem to be Team LH.
Tyson Fury ditches Lewis Hamilton to defend bad boy Max Verstappen
2021 was when the entire Lewis Hamilton – Max Verstappen rivalry really blew up. Sides were being formed, and irrespective of how coy or harmless your comments may be, you were either team Hamilton or team Verstappen. Well, Tyson Fury was definitively on team Max Verstappen!

In a video uploaded to his social media accounts, he defended the Dutch lion in the aftermath of the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP. He said, “And how Max [Verstappen] is being made out to be a bit of a bad boy in the media. I know how it feels to be trapped horribly by the media. So you know, give him a bit of a break.”

Mercedes are hopeful of making a few moves at least in 2023. But will it be enough to secure Sir Lewis Hamilton championship-winning machinery?
